Micro-Teach: Understanding People through Transactional Analysis
What is Transactional Analysis?
Transactional Analysis (TA) is a theory of communication and personality that helps us understand how people interact with each other. It’s based on the idea that each of us operates from one of three ego states:
Parent: Critical or nurturing voice (taught values)
Child: Emotional, spontaneous, or adaptive (felt experiences)
Why It Matters
Understanding which ego state we are using helps improve communication and reduce conflict. It also helps us respond rather than react, which is key in both personal and professional relationships.
