Useful sentences to practise

Use these as starting points. Change them so they describe your own experience.

Try a short practice

Read this made-up advert: “A community centre needs an assistant to welcome visitors, answer emails and keep booking records. Clear communication and basic computer skills are essential.”

  1. Name two tasks in the job.
  2. Choose one skill you could show with a real example.
  3. Say two sentences explaining that example.
See an example answer

Two tasks are welcoming visitors and answering emails. A possible example is: “At a college event, I welcomed visitors and explained where to go. I checked with the organiser when I did not know an answer.” Use your own experience for your application.

Find an English class
