Practise a recruitment test

Try eight short questions at your own pace. Choose an answer, then check it and read the explanation.

These are original Get Quantum exercises, not official employer tests. There is no time limit or pass mark, and answers are not saved. Follow the employer’s actual test instructions.

Numbers

1. A shift lasts 4 hours and pays £12 per hour. What is the pay before deductions?

Read the explanation

4 × £12 = £48. Multiply the number of hours by the hourly rate.

2. A shop has 20 boxes. Five are delivered to another branch. How many remain?

Read the explanation

20 − 5 = 15 boxes. The five boxes leave the shop, so subtract them.

Reading

3. Read: “Applications close on Friday at noon. Interviews take place the following Tuesday.” When must an application arrive?

Read the explanation

The deadline is Friday at noon, which means 12 midday. Tuesday is the interview day, not the application deadline.

4. Read: “Training is provided. Applicants need to be available on Saturdays.” Which statement is supported?

Read the explanation

The advert says applicants need Saturday availability. It does not say every shift is on Saturday, and it says training is provided.

Work situations

5. You notice that a customer’s order may be wrong. What is the best first step in this practice scenario?

Read the explanation

Checking the facts and seeking appropriate help lets you respond accurately. Actual workplace rules and responsibilities matter; a real employer may assess a scenario differently.

6. Two urgent tasks arrive and you cannot finish both by the stated time. What is the best response here?

Read the explanation

Raise the conflict early and agree priorities. That gives the team time to adjust the work instead of discovering a missed deadline later.

Computer basics

7. An application asks you to attach a CV. What should you check before submitting?

Read the explanation

Check the requested format, filename and contents. A filename alone does not tell you whether the document is the right version.

8. You edited a CV template and want to keep the original blank version. What should you do?

Read the explanation

Save as or Save a copy lets you keep the template and your completed version. Check where the new file is saved.
